Saturday, February 28th saw the conference space inside of G. S. Steamer's Bar in Oswego painted in glitter, sequins, and all manner of colors as several drag performers from across the CNY region took to the stage to raise funds for the Oswego YMCA. With a final event attendance of over 100, Oswego County Pride raised $2,000 for the local organization.
The Oswego YMCA has served the community since 1855, providing valuable resources to locals. For more about the Oswego YMCA, check out their website.
The night's entertainment featured local hosts DeeDee Bustier and Xandra Dee, local Drag Kings Manjina Hole, Jackson Bump'N'Grind and Blake AngelCake, alongside local Drag Queen Angel Dust. We were thrilled to have two Utica-area Queens, Arista Krat and Electra Qute, on the roster as well.
Each artist performed 2 numbers, each inspired by musical icons of Pop and Rock.
With the theme of "Kings and Queens of Pop and Rock Music," attendees were treated to numbers featuring music from legends like Queen, Billy Idol, and Cher, alongside contemporary artists like Sabrina Carpenter, Paramore, and others.
Highlights of the night included tabletop antics, big hair, outfit reveals, and the finale of the evening, the classic song "YMCA." Audience members were encouraged to sing and dance along, bringing a wonderful night to an energetic close.
We here at Oswego County Pride want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the employees at Steamer's. They were absolutely wonderful throughout the event, extremely attentive to the guests, and amazingly attentive to the event as a whole.
Oswego County Pride's next event is a family-friendly drag show at the 114 Reserve in Fulton, NY. The show is on Friday, March 20th, doors at 6:30, show at 7:30. Proceeds from the event benefit the 114 Reserve and Oswego County Pride.
Tickets for this event are limited and can be purchased here.
